Patna: The health department has directed all government hospitals, right from medical colleges to primary health centres (PHCs) across the state, to prescribe only those medicines available with them. The government plans to take action against those violating the decision with provision of lodging FIR against them.
According to the health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, the direction was issued after it was found that despite availability of medicines in hospitals, doctors prescribe medicine of some other companies, which are not available. As a result, patients’ attendants have to purchase medicine from outside.
Now onwards, all prescriptions would be duly signed by the treating doctor or in-charge, OPD. If the prescribed medicines are not available, it could be brought from outside only after taking permission from the superintendent, deputy superintendent or medical officer in charge. [Source: ToI]
