London: India and the Philippines are the largest exporters of doctors and nurses to OECD countries, according to an international study conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The study further reveals that Britain relies more on foreign doctors than any major EU (European Union) nation. More than a third of the UK’s NHS doctors – some 35 per cent — were born abroad.
Interestingly, the UK is also one of the highest exporters of doctors. About 17,000 UK doctors now work in other OECD members’ health systems – behind only India, China and Germany, reports The Telegraph.
