Dr Tehemton Udwadia honoured with Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian medicine

New Delhi: Dr Tehemton Erach Udwadia, a renowned medical teacher, noted gastroenterologist and widely regarded as the father of laparoscopic surgery in India, on Thursday received Padma Bhushan, the country’s third highest civilian award, for his contributions to Indian medicine. Dr Udwadia received the award from President Pranab Mukherjee at a Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is among the 89 notable personalities to get Padma awards in 2017.
